The Aldgate Shibuya

written by EnAble Japan October 20, 2014

During the weekend, Shibuya overflows with students who enjoy karaoke and izakaya (Japanese style pub) and the streets are alive with shouting and laughter. However if you want to escape the madness maybe you should go underground and check out the Aldgate British Pub. Here the mood is so relaxed and chilled out that you will soon forget about the crazy atmosphere you have just left behind. The bar staff are very friendly and the interior very comfortable and it is really not like the typical bar you find in Shibuya.

Many of the customers are ex-pats or English teachers, the majority perhaps in their thirties. The bar shows rugby and soccer matches from abroad but is never really really packed so it is always a relaxing place to visit. However like many bars you often find people arranged into their own individual groups so you may have to do some work if you want to strike up a conversation.
