Nestled in amongst the soaplands and sex information shops that make up Ikebukuro’s mini red-light district, a small oasis can be found: Bar Oasis. It is a small bar, with about 3 small tables and the bar counter, that has low-lighting and walls covered in music memorabilia, all of which give it a really intimate feeling.
Perfect for a date, relaxing drinks with a friend or simply for a quiet drink alone, Bar Oasis is the place to go. The music is played at the perfect volume where you can easily talk with your companion or just listen to the music; which makes for a nice, chilled-out atmosphere. If you’re a fan of classic American pop rock you will frequently find yourself singing along with everything they play here, whether you mean to or not. It’s mainly 70s-80s music, and they play everyone from The Eagles to Jimmy Hendrix.
The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful both times I have been here. They have an extensive selection of drinks, both imported and domestic, so you’re sure to find many things that suit your tastes. They also have an English language menu so it is easy to browse the large drinks menu without having to decipher the Japanese. The drinks are all reasonably priced and the barman doesn’t skimp on the servings either. And if there’s something you fancy that isn’t on the menu, just ask! This place serves quality liquor in quality surroundings. They also have a small selection of food, but I sadly haven’t had the chance to try this yet.
Truly a haven if you’re fed-up of large and brash chain places, or sick of loud and uninviting pubs and clubs. Overall, the perfect break from busy Tokyo life
