Harajuku’s Takeshita-dori has so many different styles, stores, and places to explore it can be dizzying at times. The labyrinth of Harajuku and Omotesando’s back streets are so extensive that it is only right for those who are determined to see everything they can in this area of Tokyo should devote a couple of days to the stores and sights. Some stores are more notable than others and have developed a following outside the US as well as inside of Japan, such as 6% DokidokiWego, and Gyre but there are stores in Harajuku that are so tucked away on the small street that shoot off of Takeshita-dori, that few travel to visit them which is a shame because some of the best places to shop are more or less secret grottos of Japanese fashion. If you travel past the delicious looking crepe stands and the irresistible variety of stores selling absolutely adorable accessories and dresses, you will be able to find a store that is very much in and out of line with the rest of the shops that line Takeshita-dori. Down one of the seemingly hundreds of side streets, you will be able to find Cheer, a place that is more like something out of a LMFAO music video than a fashion store.

Cheer is associated with several dance troops throughout Japan and their style and clothing selection lets you know right away who their target market is. Cheer’s walls are lined with loud and wild patterned leggings that are almost too perfect to dance to the Party Anthem. Pair your shiny gold zebra print leggings with their cornucopia of socks and footwear and you are good to go for the night. While you can go to your dance rehearsal in style with their selection of sports bras, super cute duffle bags, and leggings, Cheer also has you covered for a night! If you are looking for the perfect outfit to go to the club in, Cheer can provide you with some fabulous heels to step out in style and well as a variety of tops that are made of easy to wear and clean material. This is fantastic for those who know how awful it is to wear your dry clean only items out for the night. Because this store is geared to the fashionable lady in all parts of her life, a few of their clothes are less restricting. Baggy pants in bright and noticeable colors spattered with Cheer’s logo that look so wonderful for lounging around on a lazy day without skimping out on style.

While girly frilly fashions and hipster swag is great, if you are looking for a little bit of the loud and proud type of fashion, venture down the side streets of Takeshita-dori and give Cheer a visit!
