For those who can identify the fashion district of Harajuku, maybe the first thing that comes to mind are the gothic lolita and other extreme fashion styles that Harajuku has become famous for. Although there are still those who continue to be loyal to these fashion trends, and stores such as Body Line and Milk continue to cater to these markets, other trends and stores have appeared on the Harajuku fashion scene. For example, a recent trend in not just Harajuku but in Tokyo has a whole has started to get into second hand and used clothing. Stores like Panama Boy on Takeshita-dori and Ragtag and G2? in Omotesando cater to this second hand market. Another fashion trend, that of the cute punk style, is emerging on the scene in recent years. A mixture of skulls and garish cartoons with pastel colors and ribbons make up this kind of style. The store that is perfect for this market is Listen Flavor which is just off of Takeshita-dori.

Listen Flavor offers you the full kawaii punk package and all at affordable prices when you consider the designer label status that this store has. Even though the combination of skulls, Rat Fink, and pretty pink designs sound odd, the way in which Listen Flavor pulls it off is impressive. Their selection of ironic cute goth T-shirts are suitable for any body type, especially those of us from overseas. ALso, unlike cute punk’s gothic lolita counterpart, few of their clothes are restrictive which makes for a different shopping experience. The use of frills and bows leaves plenty of room for the slightly dark humor that is used in Listen Flavor’s clothing. However, you can certainly get your fill of cute thigh high hosiery and gothic unicorns to alleviate the shock value of the eyeball socks for sale.

Clothing is not the only thing for sale at Listen Flavor. You can also buy a wide range of different styles of bags and other accessories and practical items that you use throughout your day. For example, you can upgrade your hankerchief (it is the hottest part of summer after all) and replace it with one that sports Lisa Frank style teddy bears and stars. You can also buy one of Listen Flavor’s favorite two-faced bear mascot in a variety of different kinds of buttons, cell phone straps, or smart phone cases. Because Listen Flavor’s Harajuku location is small their stock is rotated often and some items go on sale only weeks after they first appear in the store. Therefore, Listen Flavor in Harajuku is worth a couple of visits if an item is not in your price range at first.

If Japanese street fashion is your passion, be sure to get into the newly emerging cute punk movement and visit Listen Flavor on Harajuku’s Takeshita-dori!
