Tokyo has a wide variety of shopping districts to choose from and to visit during one’s stay in Tokyo. However, Omotesando continues to pull new and exciting shopping options out of it’s sleeves. Omotesando is best known for it’s upscale shopping mall, Omotesando Hills, but if one decides to be an adventurous shopper when visiting Omotesando you will be rewarded. On a small back street just across from Omotesando Hills, you will most certainly be rewarded with the sight of a most impressive building with a most impressive selection of boutiques, high end fashion labels, and Japanese exclusive shops. Opening Ceremony Omotesando hosts a wide variety of shops and boutiques in a building that in and of itself is an architectural marvel. If you go to Opening Ceremony Omotesando just to take a gander at the Piet Mondriaan like glass panes fit perfectly into each other with accents of red, blue and yellow. The building is even more impressive at night when the clear glass walls omit a warm glow from the lights inside and the shadows of shoppers walking by them. Just to see the building alone is a wonderful experience. However, that experience will be made all the better if you take a peak inside.
Opening Ceremony Omotesando has an impressively extensive list of stores in it’s repertoire to match it’s brilliant exterior. No matter what your personal style or budge may be, there will certainly be something that will satisfy your retail therapy needs at Opening Ceremony Omotesando. The first Opening Ceremony opened in Manhattan in 2002, but quickly morphed and adapted to the Japanese market and made itself over to become a “mega mini mall,” to quote the Openening Ceremony Omotesando website. They strive to keep a theme for each floor to be a congruent mix of colors, fabrics, and style for both ease of shopping as well as to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Opening Ceremony Omotesando offers several high end fashion designer names such as Acne, Alexander Wang, Band of Outsiders, Carven, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, Adidas, and Toga. In addition to classic names in fashion, Opening Ceremony Omotesando also has a selection of more recent additions to the fashion world such as Lazy Oaf and Kenzo. Each store is carefully placed in an area of the three floor multiplex as to mesh with the other stores around it. The whole layout of the building creates a nice ease of movement and flow that does not place any stress on those who have come to visit and shop at Opening Ceremony Omotesando.
If you are looking for a shopping experience that is out of this world and certainly like nothing else that you have ever experienced before, then Opening Ceremony Omotesando is the place for you. The careful thought and consideration that was put into this shopping multiplex is clear and easily felt, which makes shopping at Opening Ceremony Omotesando like nothing else you have experienced.
