Prada Boutique

written by EnAble Japan October 21, 2014

The new, fun, and fresh designs of Japan are always sure to be able to provide the wow factor of a life time to a first time shopper visiting Japan. With fashion giants like Shibuya, Harajuku, and Omotesando at your finger tips, to chose where exactly to begin can be a tough decision. Maybe, you would like to feed your eye for architectural beauty while you simultaneously shop! The Prada Boutique, located just a short walk away from the Omotesando JR train station amid the high rises filled with other high class labels, is a marvel in an of itself.

The structure that the Prada Boutique inhabits is a 6 floor marvel of modern architecture. Designed and constructed by the Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron, each floor is fitted with perfectly shaped and fitted glass that are seemingly sporadically concave and convex. As the sun crosses the sky and eventually sets, with the natural sunlight intermittently reflecting off different panes of glass, give the building a look of being submerged in an immense pool of water. To just see the structure is an impressive sight and wonderful example of modernity.

Some people make the trek to the Prada Boutique complex just to ogle the building itself but it is truly a shame not to go inside and sample the extensive array of products that Prada has to offer inside. Each floor of the Prada Boutique complex is dedicated to one of Prada’s many fashion labels, giving those a taste of every kind of look and style that Prada’s designers have dreamed up over years of work growing the Prada name to what it is today. If the Prada name is not in you price range, then at least take a visit to the Prada Boutique area to at least drink in the sight of the building. The Cartier building next to it ain’t too shabby to look at either.
